OUR NAME
The name SlyFox was inspired by a sailboat I spent time on as a teenager. Built by a company called MetalMast, the boat was 30 feet long and docked in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was a rare design—few like it existed in the world—but it was beautifully crafted and engineered to harness wind with remarkable efficiency. In other words, it was fast. Sailing didn’t come naturally to me at first, but over time, I grew to love it. The challenge, the rhythm, and the precision sparked a passion that’s stayed with me ever since.
Of course, our name also nods to the fox itself—an animal known for being loyal, clever, and fiercely protective of its family. As our company mascot, the fox captures the heart of what it means to be a SlyFoxian: intelligent, resourceful, and deeply committed. Together, the sailboat and the animal represent the spirit of our company. One is a symbol of performance and discovery; the other of character and purpose.
